Trico Centre Water Usage Update – August 2024

Operations, services will not be impacted during Stage 4 Outdoor Water Restrictions

The City of Calgary has asked everyone to do their part to reduce water consumption by 25% later this month. Stage 4 Outdoor Water Restrictions will be implemented on August 26 and are scheduled to last for approximately four weeks. During this time, Trico Centre for Family Wellness will be implementing a few changes within our facility to reduce our water consumption – however, none of these changes will affect the delivery of our programs and services.

The management and staff at Trico Centre has worked diligently to minimize or eliminate processes that meet the goal of 25% reduced consumption while not diminishing any of the major activities that our members and users have grown to expect, including the following:

  • Outdoor water usage will be completely eliminated.
  • Mechanical work has been done to reduce water usage throughout the facility.
  • Water pressures have been changed to reduce quantity of water used in high-use areas.
  • Fewer arena floods will be done, mainly on light use and other minor activities. The condition of the ice surfaces will be inspected regularly and flooding will occur to ensure safe, even skating surfaces.
  • Wipes in the Fitness Centre will reduce the amount and frequency of laundry.

These voluntary changes will allow us to meet the Stage 4 Outdoor Water Restrictions that will be implemented by the City while keeping the Fitness Centre, swimming pool, hot tub, steam room and all other services operating as normal.

We sincerely thank our members, visitors, and employees for your patience and cooperation during these restrictions, and hope that the minor adjustments we have made to keep our services running smoothly will be received with patience and consideration.
