Calgary Flames Foundation Helps More Than 30 Families Access Summer Camp at Trico Centre

Financial support from the Calgary Flames Foundation helped more than 30 Calgary families give their children a summer camp experience filled with fun, friendship and new opportunities.

For many Calgary children, summer camp is a highlight of the year—a chance to try new activities, make friends and build confidence while creating memories that last a lifetime. For some families, however, the cost of summer programs can be a significant barrier.

Thanks to generous support from the Calgary Flames Foundation, more than 30 families were able to overcome that barrier and access summer camp at Trico Centre for Family Wellness. The funding provided children with an opportunity to learn, play, explore and connect with their peers in a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment. Throughout the week, campers participated in activities designed to encourage movement, creativity, teamwork and personal growth—all while enjoying the simple fun of being a kid.

For families receiving support, the impact was meaningful. “Thank you so much for this wonderful news! Ivanna is thrilled, and our family is truly grateful to you, Trico Centre, and the Calgary Flames Foundation for this generous opportunity,” shared Jorge and Isabel, whose daughter attended camp last month.

The benefits of a summer camp experience extend well beyond the activities of a single week. Children have opportunities to step outside their comfort zones, try something new, build confidence and develop friendships. They may also discover new interests and passions that encourage them to stay active and connected throughout the year.

For parents, accessible summer programming provides peace of mind and the reassurance that their children are spending time in a positive, supportive environment. Support from organizations like the Calgary Flames Foundation helps make these experiences possible for families who might otherwise be unable to participate.

The Calgary Flames Foundation’s support also demonstrates the important role that local businesses, foundations and community organizations can play in creating opportunities for Calgary’s children. When organizations invest in children’s programs at Trico Centre, they are investing in more than a summer activity—they are helping children build confidence, develop healthy habits, form friendships and experience a stronger sense of belonging. Whether through funding, sponsorship or program support, community investment can help ensure that financial circumstances do not determine which children get to participate, learn and thrive.

Trico Centre is incredibly grateful to the Calgary Flames Foundation for helping more Calgary families experience the joy and lasting benefits of summer camp. We look forward to continuing to work with community-minded partners who share our commitment to helping local children and families thrive.
