Leader in Training

Trico Centre’s Leader in Training (LIT) Program is designed for youth ages 13-17 looking to develop leadership skills and gain hands-on experience in a camp setting. This program is ideal for teens who have aged out as campers but are not yet eligible to apply for day camp leader positions.

This program will:

• Build confidence in a workplace setting
• Demonstrate the value of responsibility
• Develop social skills in a patient, positive, and supportive environment
• Create a fun and engaging camp environment for leaders and campers

General Requirements for LIT program:

• Must participate in 3-4 weeks (LITs will be contacted in late spring for confirmed weeks)
• Must be available to attend the mandatory training day (June 21, 2026)

Skills Required for LIT Program:

• Previous experience (such as babysitting, coaching, school clubs, sports teams, or community organizations)
• Reliable, responsible, and committed
• Shows qualities of a caring leader (kindness, empathy, patience, enthusiasm and a positive attitude)
• Enjoys working with children ages 4-12Y

Outcomes for LIT Program:

• Learn leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
• Assist with camp activities and games
• Make new friends and connect with other motivated teens
• Gain valuable work experience to build your resume
• Participate in a written Performance Evaluation & Self Evaluation

Leader in Training Sessions & Training

Mandatory Training June 21 9:00a-4:00p

July Session

• LITs must be available for 3-4 weeks this session (weeks DO NOT have to be consecutive.)
• Weeks must be confirmed by late Spring.
• Trico Centre staff will reach out to confirm session weeks.

August Dates

• LITs must be available for 3-4 weeks this session (weeks DO NOT have to be consecutive.)

Registration

Youth may register for the July 2026 session (commitment requirement is 3-4 weeks in July), the August 2026 session (commitment requirement is 3-4 weeks in August) or both sessions.  Each session runs Monday-Friday, 8:30AM-4:30PM. 

Registration Fee: $125 / session

Registration includes:

• Leadership training (Mandatory- June 21, 2026)
• Leader t-shirt
• Certificate of participation
• Participation in a written Performance Evaluation
• Completion of a written Self- Evaluation
• Reference letter*

*Those in the program who successfully complete all requirements (completion of all selected weeks, adhering to code of conduct, successful results of performance evaluation and self-evaluation) are eligible to request a reference letter. All reference letter requests must be submitted by Aug 23, 2026.
