Trico Centre COVID-19 FAQs - updated May 19, 2020

Trico Centre for Family Wellness is temporarily closed.

We understand our members, day camp and program registrants, facility renters have many questions, and we are working diligently to answer them.

The Trico Centre strives to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of our employees and patrons utilizing the facility. With this in mind, we wish to address the current concerns about the Coronavirus Covid-19 as it has now appeared in Alberta. At this time, Alberta Health Services indicates our risk of infection is low, but has guidelines in place for prevention, care, or self-isolation for those who have travelled to places of high risk or have been exposed. In an effort to contain the spread of COVID-19, the City of Calgary is closing all Calgary sport and recreation centres.

The most up-to-date information from provincial health can be found:

Why is the facility closed?

The Mayor of Calgary announced on March 15, 2020 that the City was ordering a local state of emergency and that all City of Calgary and Civic Partner recreation centres were to close at March 16th, 2020 at 12:01am to help limit the spread of COVID-19. This was followed by a Provincial Declaration of Emergency on March 17, 2020, and subsequent provincial closure order for all recreational facilities, that remains in force now.

What is your policy on refunds for canceled programs and bookings?

A credit for any remaining classes in current programs will be added to your Trico Centre account for future use. No action required. For those where enrolled in skating and swim lessons, we will have report cards / ribbons ready for pick up once the facility reopens.

Update May 19, 2020 - We have now had to cancel all Programs and Facility Bookings through August 31, 2020. While it is our intent to provide a credit or refund for all of these cancellations, we still can't provide a firm policy on this until we are allowed to re-open, and have a better understanding of what the City of Calgary emergency funding is going to look like.

Will Kids Korner and Out of School Care still be open?

As per the provincial mandate announced on March 15, 2020, Kids Korner childcare and Trico’s Out of School Care Program will remain closed until further notice from the Government of Alberta.

Update May 19, 2020 - Recent Provincial guidelines allow certain facilities to re-open their OSC program under COVID related restrictions. We are currently evaluating our ability adhere to these guidelines and re-open the OSC program before the rest of the facility is allowed to resume normal operations.

Will Trico Centre partners be open during your facility closure?

As of March 17, 2020, the businesses within Trico Centre will be closed to the public.

Update May 19, 2020 - We are pleased to announce Panther Sports Medicine has re-opened as of today. No other business partners are currently open.
