Our Child & Youth programs are developed to enhance your child’s daily life through recreational activities in a way they may not have the opportunity to experience at school. We have a variety of genres including Arts, Science, Active/Gym activities, Sports, Dance, Gymnastics, Mind/Body and much more. We encourage your child to try new activities and start an activity at any age in a non-competitive, and supportive environment. Youth ages 9-14 can access the Fitness Centre by completing a Youth Fitness Orientation. Check our Program Guide for more information on the classes we offer, times, and costs.
Child & Youth FAQs
My child has never been in sports, is this ok?
Sure is! In fact, most of our programs are designed for children who want to try the sport for the first time. We are learning the basics of the skills, teamwork, game rules, in a non-competitive environment. They will play games in teams against each other where score may be taken but not at a high training level. Fun is always our priority!
Can I register my child if they are younger or older than the posted age?
We are more lenient on this policy for children of these ages, as the development and school grades line up easier. For example, if you have a child who is 8 years and their friend is in a program that specifies the age of 9+ yrs, we are more accommodating to make those allowances. Please contact the Programs Management Team to discuss your child’s program requests.
What should my child bring to class?
For most classes please have indoor shoes and a bottle of water. Any additional requirements should be communicated by us prior to the class (ie. Swim suit, outdoor wear etc.)
What happens if my child needs to go to the washroom?
Depending on the age level of the program, most instructors will allow children to go to the nearest washroom with a “buddy” with an expected time limit. If this is taken advantage of the class will take a trip as a group to the washroom.
How will information about classes be communicated? We communicate through email for all class information including our Session Welcome Letter, Long Weekend Reminders, Cancelled Classes, and Changes to your Class. Please ensure your email is up to date with us through your online account or contacting Guest Services.
